New Ice Plant Nearing Completion in Plattsmouth

Plattsmouth prepares for a new artificial ice plant with modern machinery and a Meitz Weiss oil engine at a cost of about 3,000 dollars. The facility includes cold storage with patent cork lining, loading bays, and railroad sidings for shipment, promising an almost airtight, high quality ice production site ready within days.

Keys Found at Dunbar Reported in Daily

The key pack sent by F. Wescolts Sons from Dunbar Nebraska included a patent tag with number 2698. L M Shubert of Cannell Bluffs Iowa found them and identified the owner as J J Shireman traveling representative for MFE Smith Co of Noaha. Shireman will visit the city soon to claim his missing keys.

Fred Rice Injured in Burlington Freight Car Accident

T H Pollock, after a year in Omaha’s auto trade, relocates headquarters to Plattsmouth. Charles Ulrich Injured When Saw Slipped at Work

Charles Ulrich lacerated his right thumb and two fingers when his foot slipped while using a power saw behind the Fricke store on Sixth Street. The hand was dressed and he will wear a bandage for some time, with friends glad no fingers were lost.

The funeral for Gen. W. Vass was held last Sunday afternoon. George W. Vass was born March 21, 1865 in Kenawa county West Virginia and moved with his parents to Plattsmouth as a child. He learned watchmaking, formed Gault & Vass in Plattsmouth, later worked as a foreman in Kansas City, and died in Seattle on April 3. He joined the Presbyterian church early in life and remained devoted.

Burlington Station disturbance ends with man aboard train

Passengers at Burlington station yesterday witnessed a dispute when Roberts, a stranger, boarded a northbound train after being stopped for intoxication. Brakeman and yard policeman Biszan clashed with him as he refused to disembark, with Biszan allegedly struck by a billy. The man then rode to Omaha, later claiming support from several fellow passengers.

A major A O U W meeting Saturday brought four lodges together for a large initiation with 26 candidates. Grand Master Workman A M Walling of David City officiated while Deputy Barton aided, and a luncheon followed in the main hall as members praised the order’s benefits and ritual.

Vesta Chapter East ern Star Visits Masonic Home

About forty members of Vesta Chapter C. E. 5. Omaha visited the Masonic Home for a few hours. A picnic dinner was served indoors due to stormy weather. A concert featuring Theme and daughter, Will Herrigton, Walter Graham, and others entertained. Mr. Askwith, the Home’s superintendent, received a token in honor of his birthday. The party returned to Omaha at 4:40 aboard the Missouri Pacific.
