Merle Long and Matilde Olson were forced off the highway by a passing truck at the Livingston Road and First street junction. Their car struck a telephone pole causing minor injuries treated by Dr. R P Westover. The truck fled. its number unknown and may be the same vehicle involved in a prior No 75 incident near Omaha.

Ak-Sar-Ben Show Opens June 10 in Plattsmouth
The 1935 Ak-Sar-Ben night schedule kicks off Monday June 10 with a Southeastern Nebraska night on June 17 inviting citizens from nearby towns. This year’s production borrows from a Broadway stage hit, replacing local plots of past years. Free lunch will follow the show for visiting delegations.

Plattsmouth Young Man Joins Pacific Fleet Maneuvers
Oliver E. Taylor of Plattsmouth enrolled in the navy last year and serves aboard the U S S California. The battleship participates in Pacific fleet maneuvers with a twelve day voyage from San Pedro to Hawaii and back. Taylor, a 1924 Plattsmouth High School graduate, enjoyed Hawaiian entertainment and remains active in local athletics. He plans to return to the United States in June for San Diego exposition ceremonies.

Flower Show Opens by Plattsmouth Garden Club

Raise Enlistment Age for the CCC Call for June
Mrs. C A Rosencrans reports a CCC expansion with a June 17 report date at Fort Crook. The age limit rises to 16 to 28, adding three years to the window for new recruits. A state total of 1,700 to be called between June 15 and July 5, with counties and the state selecting June 17 and June 19. Only applicants with relief parental status will be considered. Four camps at Niobrara Ponca Valentine and Gering will each enroll 189 men.

Police Nab Omaha Woman Over Liquor Lark
Night police detained a Omaha woman and her sober companion after she carried a heavy liquor load on a Friday. The woman cursed officers, damaged two jail windows, and both were sent back to Omaha after minor injuries and a fistful of window repair costs. A crowd gathered outside the jail to watch.

Keith Miller Killed by Train at Private Crossing
Keith Miller aged 15 was fatally struck by a northbound passenger train near a private crossing south of Pearl street. The boy, seen tending a cow along the tracks, was found 200 yards south, his body mangled. Funeral services were held at Sattler funeral home with Boy Scout pallbearers.
