Speeders Halted by Police Chief and Officers
Last evening Chief of Police Man speaker and Officer Chas McBride stopped three motorists for speeding and fined each ten dollars plus costs totaling thirteen dollars. The blotter names on record include Frank Smith of Omaha R. A. Troop and S. W. Bell. The offenses occurred while driving on the avenues leading out of the city.

Death of Joseph Lambert at Farm
The body of Joseph Lambert 52 was found at the county farm near Rock Bluffs by Superintendent J H Tams during morning rounds. Overheated by heat in days of intense weather, officials believe death occurred peacefully overnight. He was unmarried with two brothers, one sister, and a half sister. Funeral services were set for 6 AM at Horning Cemetery, with Rev A V Hunter of the Methodist church to conduct.

Robbers scare away from E A Wurl store
Robbers are reported to have visited the E A Wurl store on Sixth Street Friday night and again after 2 a m but no theft was found. Special merchant police officer Henry Trout secured the west door after 8 pm and then found an unlocked door and heard noises but nothing was taken. A later search found no evidence of intrusion and the cash register was undisturbed.

Large coal vein unearthed near Talmage Nebraska

Miss Donica Vroman Hurt In Knife Accident
Yesterday afternoon Donica Vroman daughter of Mr and Mrs L E Vroman sustained a severe cut to her left hand while at the Sitzman home assisting with younger children. A seven year old boy named Jimmie reportedly seized a large butcher knife during play and caused the injury.

Farmer Oscar Gapen suffers severe fracture of right arm
This morning at about 10 o clock Oscar Gapen a prominent farmer southwest of the city sustained a severe injury while oiling a threshing machine his arm was drawn into the machinery and fractured between the elbow and wrist with bone fragments protruding. Doctors Flynn and West attended and an ether anesthetic was used. Recovery will take several weeks and the accident follows a recent family injury to Mrs Gapen.

Wind bursts from well during drilling near town
On Tuesday F. J. Fitch drilling on the George Oehlerking farm west of town caused a sudden wind burst and strong odor. Water could not enter the hole as it blew out, with dirt and air forced skyward. The crew, unable to explain the event, forced the casing down to resume work.
