C E Wescott's Sons announce a 10 day sale in the Morgan room next to their store. They will offer washed and cleaned flood damaged garments at bargain prices while stock lasts. Sale begins Saturday July 18 on a first come first served basis.
St Luke's choir hosted the season's most successful lawn fete at Henry Herold's residence. The well lit veranda and floral setting complemented a carefully chosen program praised for precision. Edith Dovey Mildred Cummins Ben Windham and others drew strong encores while ice cream and cake accompanied the final music and readings on a perfect night.

H E Weidman fails to settle with adjusters at the dock after consultations with Nebraska Underwriters and other insurers. Weidman estimates stock at about 7000 dollars with 5800 dollars insured among six companies and plans to sue if payment is not made within sixty days. Attorney Byron Clark represents him in the matter.
County Commissioners Friedrich Switzer and Jordan along with County Clerk Rosencrans and Superintendent Miss Foster met in Elmwood to discuss school district boundary changes. After hearings the group traveled and, due to a washout route change, faced a late arrival mishap as the party missed their Cedar Creek stop en route home. Foster remained in Weeping Water until the Missouri Pacific train returned.

City council met with nearly all members present except White and Neuman to discuss a new Nebraska Telephone Company franchise. The session covered finances, hydrant rentals, street curbing, sidewalk contracts, and plans for city infrastructure amid high heat and tense exchanges.
Mayor Gering Councilman Vondran Neuman and Schluntz rode to Omaha at noon to meet the Plattsmouth Water Company general attorney over a proposed settlement with the city. The plan includes hydrant rent and private consumer rate reductions and a twenty year extension of the company’s franchise. Exact figures aren’t yet known. a full public statement will follow the committee’s return.
