Plattsmouth Fourth of July Celebration Marvels City
Plattsmouth closed its Fourth of July with a massive celebration praised as the biggest and best. Ten thousand plus attendees traveled from farms, workshops, and business districts. Henry Schneider led the organizing push, with strong support from Wescott, Hart, and local merchants. A grand parade featured 48 floats, bands, and dignitaries, followed by Garfield Park ceremonies, speeches by W. L. Oldham and Gov. Sheldon, and a lively Main Street program including races, games, and a ball game. A postparade stock show plan and a damaging Weidman’s store fire interrupted celebrations but were managed without major injuries.
