Frank Schuffler, 29, previously a barber, was run over and killed by a train at Burlington yards in Pacific Junction Iowa after two hours on duty. He leaves a wife and four children. He had lived in Pacific Junction eleven years and worked as a barber with Thomas Martin before switching roles recently. A neighbor praised him as honest and devoted. The accident ended his service, and colleagues prepare for his burial and return to normal duties.

W P Cook of Salem Iowa learned of his brother Lindley Hackett Cook's sudden death at 723 years old a farming family man east of town who leaves a wife and nine children in sorrow. The Friends church at Salem planned the funeral and burial with Mr Cook unable to reach in time for the service.

William Hoffman of Plattsmouth, a Tamans Rainbow Division member wounded October 23 in battle, arrived home after mustering out at Camp Friston.
