Farmers Co-Operative Creamery Co. held its annual meeting at the courthouse with reports presented and a year in review. Directors elected were John Hobscheidt Jr of Murray J W Murdoch of Nehawka and H L Grayer of Plattsmouth.
An Omaha Joslyn Memorial concert featured about fifty six members of the University of Nebraska School of Music orchestra conducted by Prof. Carl Frederic Steckelberg Miss Vestetta Robertson served as accompanist for the program including works by Wagner Saint Saens Haydn Handel Jainefelt Bach Adeock. Attendees included the Robertson Pollock Minor and Devoe families and other local residents.
Myron A Birdsley longtime Lincoln Telephone & Telegraph employee is cited for service honors in the current Lincoln Telephone News. He has served five years and is now stationed in Nebraska City in service.
Governor Bryan rested through Sunday in the executive mansion reports say. Attendants noted he ate well stayed quiet and slept soundly with family present and condition described as as good as Saturday.
The Becker home hosted a Sunday family dinner for Mr. and Mrs. George Wallinger of near Ashland, sister of Mrs. Becker. Birthday anniversaries of the guests of honor were celebrated with sisters, a brother, and their families joining in the gathering.
Stockholders met at the Bekin building to elect officials for the year. Directors named were R. A. Bates Charles E. Martin Tone J. Janda with C A Johnson president R A Bates vice president E P Lutz secretary Fred T. Ramee treasurer and Charles E. Martin solicitor. A new stock series opens in March with the annual dividend to be declared.
Coach Fred A. Robert and R. Foster Patterson attended a Schoolmen's Club event in Avoca as Cass county officials finalize plans for the February 16 17 18 tournament. Plattsmouth Reserves draw Union in the first round with Avoca slotted for a possible second round if Plattsmouth defeats Union. Avoca, a strong county contender, aims for Class A standings at the Southeast Nebraska meet.
Mr and Mrs Joseph Weber of this city are the happy parents of a fine little daughter Betty Jo who arrived last evening The mother and the child are doing nicely The father is recovering from tonsillectomy performed Saturday Mrs Weber was formerly Miss Margaret Berzmann

A large delegation from the Farmers Union led by William Blum of South Bend presented resolutions to Cass county commissioners urging tax cuts and reduced government costs. Proposals include wage scales for road crews, halting nonemergency road dragging, trimming county salaries by up to thirty percent, and cutting the overall levy to 67000 dollars. The board will consider the platform at its annual post-reorganization session.
Gerald Ketelson, son of Mr and Mrs William Ketelson, is critically ill with pneumonia at St Catherine's Hospital in Omaha. He was rushed there Sunday and given oxygen as doctors fight to sustain vitality through the illness. The family remains at the hospital as officials report a grave condition with a sinking spell earlier today.
Burlington officials from the train freight and mail departments examined local schedules as Schuyler train time will shift from 3:17 to 1:10 p.m. effective January 15, easing Ashland connections and reducing overtime charges.
The daughter of Mr and Mrs Harold Willis was taken to an Omaha hospital this morning for treatment of pneumonia. Her condition is described as critical.
Hearing on a 1929 model Chevrolet coupe found parked near Third Street led to impounding by the county after officers reported four gallons of intoxicating liquor. With the owner absent, the court ordered sale under state law and the proceeds to the county.
The opening of the new year shows Plattsmouth High School enrollment well above last year with 267 students, a small year half shrinkage of six, and graduates now working in commercial fields. Freshmen lead with 77, followed by Juniors 72, Sophomores 68, Seniors 50. Seven former graduates are in part or full time work.
The Downers Grove High School basketball team won the Stage holiday interscholastic tournament in Chicago finals held December 11. Downers Grove defeated Roosevelt School of Chicago 35 to 26. Superintendent G. E. DeWolf of Downers Grove, former head of the Plattsmouth Schools, was noted in the story.
The Parker family expresses gratitude to firemen neighbors and friends who assisted during the January 6 fire that destroyed their home.
Emeline P. Mayfield, aged 97 years, two months, and twenty seven days, died Tuesday at 4:30 PM at the Nebraska Masonic Home in the city. A Louisville and Plattsmouth native, she was born October 13, 1835 in Ohio and married George W. Mayfield in 1855. Survived by five sons and two daughters, funeral services will be held in Louisville with burial in Riverview cemetery.

The Louis Born family received word of the death of Harry Thimgan aged 35 from Elmwood. He died in a Lincoln hospital after a period of erysipelas treatment. He is survived by his widow and one daughter. Thimgan was formerly Miss Mable Meisinger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Meisinger of near Manley. Funeral arrangements have not yet been made.
Rotary members heard Vance E. Thomas of the Lincoln School of Commerce discuss the urgent need for youth vocational guidance. He warned that limited job openings and the machine age have increased unemployment and stressed guiding graduates to suitable fields. The program, chaired by L. S. Devoe, included a piano duet by Mrs. R. W. Knorr and Mrs. Devoe and a pledge to Emery Doody by Rev. H. G. McClusky.
The Social Worker's of the Methodist church met at Mrs Edgar Newton's home on Tuesday afternoon with many members present. Officers elected were President Mrs W A Wells Vice President Mrs R B Hayes Secretary Mrs L S Devoe and Treasurer Mrs Henry Ore Jr. The gathering closed with refreshments served by the hostess.
John Lutz and Fred G. Morgan visited Omaha for a few hours to see their old friend George Dodge. Dodge has been ill for two weeks but now feels better though he remains at home. Friends hope he will be fully recovered soon.
The Daisy Dairy Calf Club invites youths aged 10 to 21 to join and organizing meetings on January 20 1933 at Noble Risers. Members say all interested boys and girls should attend that evening.
Miles N. Drake died at 3:30 AM after a heart attack. An early Louisville hotel and restaurant operator, he built Hotel Drake twenty two years ago and led local business groups. Born in North Chemung New York, he moved to Nebraska in 1874 and married Millie B. Bell in 1900. Survived by widow, son Charles, brother C F Drake, and half brother Clayton Drake. members of several fraternal and civic orders.
The Fontenelle chapter of the D A R met at Mrs Henry McMahen s home on high school hill and decided to send another box of books to the merchant marine library. A representative was elected to the Continental Congress to be held in March in Washington D C. Mrs J S Livingston reviewed D A R magazine and Mrs Otto Keck spoke on Conservation and Thrift. Refreshments followed.
A pricing error in Soennichsen January Clearance ads mispriced coats. Women's coats were listed at 2.95 instead of 4.95, Children's at 4.95 instead of 2.95. The notice notes sensational values in higher ranges 39.50 and 7.95 and promises corrections and low prices on seasonable merchandise.
The real estate farm mortgage record for 1932, compiled by Register of Deeds Miss Lilian White, lists 221 farm property mortgages filed with a value of 833 096.86 and 144 released valued at 788 490.65. City property shows 89 mortgages filed totaling 154 066/12 with TE released at 148 435.59.
