Members of the G A R and Woman's Relief Corps gathered at the G A R hall to celebrate George Washington's birthday with songs, speeches, and readings. Rev Lou Wallace Gade praised Washington and linked his legacy to evolving liberty worldwide, noting events in China and the broader movement toward republican government.

Marion Smith Leaves Iowa Farm for New Home

Marion Smith, who farmed west of Plattsmouth for two seasons, rents his farm to Wes Tilene and plans to move back to the old home farm nearneq nreon Iowa. His brother Tay arrived to help load his car next week. Marion is described as a first class man and farmer, and the town regrets his departure.

Social Evening At Presby­terian Church Enjoys Youth Fun

Members of the I I society of the Presbyterian church held a pleasant social last evening in the church parlors. The social committee arranged stunts games and guessing contests for amusement while music from attendees added charm. Farewell Surprise For Fahlson Family On Leaving Portsmouth

Friday night a party of fifty to sixty neighbors and friends gathered at Mr. Fahlsen and family near Davy Nebraska to bid farewell and wish prosperity in their new farm home. Music and refreshments accompanied polite goodbyes as the Burlington workman leaves after twenty years in the paint shop. A silver farewell finial token was given to Mr. and Mrs. Fahlsen to remember old Portsmouth friends.

Returns From Monmouth for Kendall Family

Frank Kendall and his daughter in law Mrs A O Kendall of Union were in Plattsmouth this morning on return from Monmouth Minnesota where they went last week for the illness of Mr Kendall's sister Mrs Buford. Her condition remained grave and death was feared. Mr Kendall stayed briefly to attend urgent business.
