He married Alice Oliver in 1883 and helped run the Kunsmann Ramge meat market, later contributing to local social and civil life alongside his wife and children.

Gillette couple recover from Iowa auto crash injuries
Mrs. B. F. Stewart of Gillette Wyoming is gradually recovering from severe injuries suffered in an August auto wreck in Iowa. She was operated on at a hospital in Omehe to address effects of the crash. Mr. Stewart is also recovering from lesser injuries as the couple continued from Wyoming to relatives in Iowa.

Drunken Drivers Face County Court Hearings
This morning the county court heard cases of drivers charged with operating vehicles while intoxicated. Mike Kenkes pleaded guilty after initially contesting a truck collision at the Platte river bridge and received thirty days in jail plus a one year license revocation. Joe Luff and Paul Smith from Palmyra were arrested after near wrecks on South Sixth Street. Smith pleaded guilty to drunkenness and received ten days in jail. Luff's hearing was pending for the intoxicated operation charge.

Peterson in Nebraska City auto wreck loses right eye
Nebraska City attorney Lloyd B. Peterson was severely injured in a Thursday night crash south of Union and underwent surgery Friday to remove his right eye after a face and eye socket laceration and skull injury. Varro Tyler, his law partner, suffered a broken right wrist and facial injuries but is not believed to be severely hurt. Investigation indicates Tyler swerved to avoid the collision but Forter’s car crossed the road and forced the impact.

Iowa Man Burned to Death in Auto Wreck Near Union
A two car collision on Highway No. 75 near Union left J. R. Porter of Council Bluffs dead in a blazing car. His companion Forest Wilson of Nebraska City died early next morning. Injured were W. E. Tyler and L. B. Peterson, Nebraska City attorneys, with Peterson severely hurt. The crash occurred when two cars locked wheels as they were about to pass. Porter’s car rolled and caught fire. Wilson was thrown free but Porter’s foot trapped him. Authorities begin an inquest led by Otoe county officials.
