Funeral of Mrs Thomas Hodgson
The remains of Mrs. Thomas Hodgson were brought to Plattsmouth from Galesburg Illinois and buried at Oak Hill Cemetery beside her husband. Canon Burgess conducted the burial service at the cemetery. A daughter, son in law, and granddaughter joined friends for the funeral. Mrs Hodgson, 61, was born in England and later lived in Plattsmouth before the couple moved to Galesburg. Her daughter married W C Coates of Galesburg.
Narrow escape for veterinarian amid mare injury
W D Jones barely escaped serious injury when a mare owned by John Bee son kicked him in the temple while he was sewing a leg wound. He flew backward, bruised, with a painful hip but credited luck as the blow narrowly missed fatal harm and left him recovering at home.

Birthday Surprise for Mrs South at Pleasant Home
A large gathering at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas South celebrated Mrs. South’s 31st birthday with music games and a lavish supper. Attendees included B C Hyde H G Van Horn George Perry Jacob Jones Joshua Andrews and many others in a lively party atmosphere. The event ended with warm wishes for future anniversaries. The same day William Wohlfarth’s funeral preparations were announced after his death in New York City. He will be interred at Oak Hill Cemetery in a service conducted by Rev Steger. He was born November 23 1854 in Germany and emigrated to the U S in 1879. He leaves a brother Christian and a sister in Germany. another brother William also resides here.
