Yesterday marked the fiftieth wedding anniversary of Mr and Mrs John F Hirz longtime Plattsmouth residents. Family greetings, gifts, and flowers filled their Marble street home with neighbors and grandchildren sharing in the milestone. Omar Baking Co Omaha sent a large decorated cake symbolizing the event. They were married February 18 1888 in Plattsmouth and later lived on a west Plattsmouth farm before settling in town.

Fire at Stamp Home Near Plattsmouth Narrowly Contained
Fire began in a chimney at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Stamp south of Plattsmouth. Mrs. Stamp alerted neighbors as flames spread to a spare bedroom and bedding. Firefighters from Plattsmouth, including Carl Ofe and Louie Lohnes, used two chemical tanks to subdue the blaze. Mr. Stamp was rescued from the second floor and treated on the first floor. Damages to the room and contents were extensive but worse outcomes were avoided.

George Oberle prominent Eagle area farmer died Friday in Lincoln after ongoing treatment. Survived by wife Ida two sons Edward and George and daughter Mrs Caroline Olds of Stockton California three brothers Fred Rudolph and Emil. Little Girl Lands Big Sea Bass on West Coast Trip
Mrs Newell Pollard formerly Miss Hetty Kaline of Plattsmouth landed the largest sea bass on an excursion boat without aid from rod or reel. Photos show her holding the nearly as long as her arm fish, with husband and boat crew watching. The Pollards married last fall and now live in California. Mrs Kaline is the daughter of Cyril Kaline of Plattsmouth.

Floodwater and Sewage Disposal a Real Problem
City administration studies floodwater and sewage disposal on the bottom lands east of the Burlington tracks. A straight open dirt ditch with a protective levee is proposed as a cheaper, temporary flood control and sewage flow path until a full disposal plant is built. Landowners offer to donate land for straightening if the city undertakes the dredging work, estimated at about $500.
