Cass county alumni of the University of Nebraska gathered for a Charter Day banquet at the First Presbyterian church Fellowship room. The scarlet and cream decor featured pennants and sweet peas as John E. Turner, president, called the meeting to order and guests enjoyed the repast.

Last evening a splendid recital by the pupils of St John’s School on North Sixth Street drew a pleasing crowd despite cold weather. Thirty performers presented choruses piano pieces readings and a one act play The Sick Doll with Betty Kalina Leo Werth and Margaret Ann Pitz in the cast. Special numbers by city artists included piano pieces by Charles Nowasek a vocal by Betty Sitzman violin selections by Leo Welch and a violin trio Ave Marie by Woolcott Rea and Stoll.

Aged Civil War Veteran Steps to Death at County Farm
John Monroe ninety two resident of the county farm west of the city leaped from a second floor window after midnight. He landed on a shed roof and fell eight feet to the ground suffering severe injuries and later died at 6 am. Deserter Captured Near City by Local Officers
Officers Libershal and Pickrel arrested Willard Floyd DeRocssett, sought in Norfolk Virginia for desertion from the U S Navy. He fled from the naval training station last November and traveled westward to the city where relatives lived. He will be turned over to naval authorities in Omaha for trial.
