County to Build New Jail North of Court House

County commissioners let the contract for a new two story jail on the blocks north of the courthouse. L G Larson of this city is the lowest bidder for the building at 9350 with plumbing and heating bid to John Bauer at 1372.05. Architect Joe Guth of Omaha designed the modern sanitary structure to house magistrates, male and female wards, and the sheriff with family quarters. Lukel L. Wiles travels to Lincoln for an agriculture committee meeting including ex Governor Shallenberger and Lt Governor McKelvie.

Popular Cass County Couple Granted Marriage License

Judge Beeson granted a license to George Adam Kaffenberger, 24, and Emma Tschirren, 20, two of Cass county’s best known young people. They plan to wed tomorrow at the bride’s parents home, southwest of the city. The groom is son of Jno Kaffenberger and wife, while the bride is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Christ Tschirren.

Red Polled Bull Shipped to Oklahoma by Wiles

Luke L. Wiles of Cass county shipped another young Red Poll bull to Perry Oklahoma this week. The bull, consigned to R Rasmussen, will head a fine Oklahoma herd on the Rasmussen farm. P H Meisinger, son-in-law of Rasmussen, visited the herd and selected the animal for his father-in-law.

This noon at St Pauls Evangelical church parsonage Rev J H Steger joined George Adam Kaffenberger and Emma Tschirren in marriage. Attendants were Maggie Kaffenberger and Fred Tschirren. A reception followed at the groom's parents home west of town with many relatives and friends as guests.

Court hears case over alleged whisky sale at Riley hotel restaurant

A crowded court room in Justice M. Archer's chamber heard Oliver Osborn defend against a charge of selling a pint of whisky to Sandy Andrews at his restaurant in the basement of the Hotel Riles behind the Riley bar. Testimony from Andrews and witnesses such as James Marousek detailed the events of Saturday night while Osborn and bartender Claus Speck disputed timing and access. The verdict was reserved after lunch as the judge prepared a ruling.

Death of Aged Gentleman at Masonic Home

John Barton aged resident of the Masonic Home died after a stroke this morning at 4 39 he never fully regained consciousness. The body was sent to Scribner Nebraska for funeral services. Barton moved to the Home in June of last year and was a bright cheerful figure loved by the circle there.

Yesterday 4 10 pm the 19 month old son of Mr and Mrs Rey Worthen died after several days illness from pneumonia. Funeral was at 3 pm from the home of grandparents Mr and Mrs Mike Stines in South Park. Remains viewable at grandparents 7 to 8 this evening. Interment in Palmer Nebraska tomorrow morning.
