Tribute Resolution for Sheriff J Crawford Bikenbury

Nebraska House honors the late Croft Aikenbury an esteemed Cass County sheriff and Lancaster deputy with a formal resolution. Hon Edwin Jeary introduces the tribute after Bikenbury's death from a factory accident while showing his grandson the power plant engines. George Reynolds to resume farming in Gass County

Friends announce George Reynolds will return to farming in Gass County after purchasing the Ted Barrows farm adjoining W. D. Wheeler’s land south of the city. The 102 acre property is described as desirable and near Wheeler’s farm, with A. J. Trilety handling the deal. Reynolds previously farmed near Nehawka with success.

District Court Session Sews Short Title

District Judge H D Travis held a brief equity docket session. In Louise Ray et al v Dysart et al an order for publication and decree in partition were granted. A L Tidd was appointed referee. In Davin J Mom mert v Gibson et al a partition suit decree was granted and Nellie B Reed and Harry D Reed involved. Cases from Weeping Water and Union vicinity.

Administrators Appointed in Local Estates

The county judge's office approved administrators and executrix for several estates. John R. Baird of Elimwood named John Weichel administrator. Marcus M. Shipman of Weeping Water had widow Mary B. Shipman named executrix. John M. Sattler appointed administrator for Ulvieh Untelder estate near Cedar Creek.

Lincoln license grants for two Gass county residents

From Friday's Daily in the State Journal two Weeping Water men were issued marriage licenses in Lincoln. John J. Fitzpatrick aged 63 and Martin J. Drum aged 59 are well known across western and central parts of Gass county where they have many friends.

Funeral of John OConner of Kansas City Held Today

The funeral for John OConner of Kansas City was held this morning at St John’s Catholic Church with Father Shine of this city officiating. Interment followed beside his parents as friends paid tribute to a man esteemed by many in the community. OConner brothers Tom and Con OConner of Linea and Mike OConner of Missouri Valley Iowa attended, with James Want of Lincoln assisting at the grave. The family offers thanks to all who aided during illness and death.

Death of an Aged Cass County Pioneer

Josiah Cline, longtime Greenwood resident, dies at his home at 6:20 p.m. at age 71 after chronic pancreatitis and arterial sclerosis. An early settler, he and his wife were known for hard work. Funeral services were held Monday at the Christian church, with burial in the local cemetery.

Ground broken for Burlington & Missouri River railroad

Tom O Conner broke ground on July 5 1860 for the Burlington and Missouri River railroad work north of the Burlington station. He attended his brother John O Conner’s funeral earlier and was employed by contractor John Pitzgerald who led the groundbreaking ceremony with state dignitaries present.

Nehawka couple wed in county courthouse ceremony

A large wedding party from Nehawka witnessed the marriage of Ralph Vaill and Nettie Hales performed by County Judge A. J. Beeson at the courthouse. Afterward the couple and guests returned to Nehawka while the newlyweds continued to Omaha and Blaine for a short wedding trip.

Friday's Daily Westernday reports the death of Mrs A F Brown sister-in-law of Mrs Hawksworth in Templeton California. She had lived in California for years and was a sister of Mr Hawksworth. Members of the Hawksworth family regret her passing.

Re decorating interior of MW church completed

The Methodist church interior has been redecorated under artist Frank Gobelman. The walls and west alcove are in a tasteful tight gray, with artistic ceiling decorations enhancing the church's handsome appearance. Cleaning is underway and woodwork will be re-varnished to top condition.

The Ladies' Aid society of the M E B church held a pleasant meeting yesterday afternoon in the church parlors with about fifty attendees. Hostesses Mrs George Kaffenberger Mrs Alice Kennedy and J M Cummings received guests as royal entertainers. A short business session was followed by social time and elegant refreshments.

Quilting Bee at Mrs Wiles Home Delights Helpers

About fifteen members of the Helpers of the Christian church gathered at Mrs. Thomas Wiles home for a quilting bee on Wednesday. They enjoyed social conversation and a feast described as fit for a king. Carnation decorations drew praise as guests departed feeling the occasion offered profit and pleasure.

The Epworth League gathered at Mr. and Mrs. G If Cobb’s west city residence for a lively social evening. A guessing contest with wall clues crowned Miss Ferris York and James Rishel as winners. booby prize went to Mrs I G VII and Miss Grace York for incorrect rolls. Music games and a three course luncheon hosted a festive program for about fifty members.
