The State of Nebraska appeals to district court in the case against Dennis Doud for intoxication and resisting Marshal John B. Haugh in Greenwood on December 4. She died yesterday morning from heart trouble while her husband was in Kansas City and her children and a neighbor assisted. Funeral plans await her husband's return from Arkansas City. She left four sons and two siblings.
Judge Carland denied Montgomery Ward & Co. a temporary injunction against South Dakota Retail Merchants and Hardware Dealers Association and Editor E J Mannix. The ruling found no unlawful threats, only lawful persuasion to support local retailers. The case proceeds to merits in April in Sioux Falls.
A 22 year old Audiss from Erie Kansas failed to obtain a license when the county judge learned the bride was only sixteen and lacked parental consent. The couple, using aliases John Bennett and Mrs John Brown, had traveled from Missouri Pacific and registered in Glenwood, possibly eloping to avoid detection.
John Rasgorshek, injured in a brutal assault a week ago, is reportedly recovering and not yet able to talk with detectives. His wife says Rasgorshek recalls a hook as the weapon and a younger assailant, a boy about 16. Detectives Seit feld and Donahue have searched a six block radius seeking leads.
C H Bevington the new Missouri Pacific division superintendent is expected in Omaha late this week He began his trip ten days ago but fell from an engine and remains hospitalized in Little Rock with injuries from the accident.

Friends gathered at Manota Perrys home on Tuesday February 4 to celebrate her eighteenth birthday with games, music by Menota Perry Fanny Will and Mrs Verner Perry, and a luncheon. Guests included Harriet Adams Margaret and Rachel Livingston Marie Tschirren Elsie Stokes Dora Fanny Will Lou Vallery Bernice Barker Gertrude Hartman Nannie Speck and several in the Wheeler Vallery Adams Wiles Cole Propst and Verner families.
At the bride’s parents home in Nehawka on February 6 Mrs N Opp and Mr N Opp witnessed Dora Kathryn Opp marry Claude Ausmus. The ceremony at 7 pm featured Lydia Nutzman singing and a bridal party with Frank Boedeker as groomsman and Stella Opp as bridesmaid. Rev H B Seymour officiated. After a pink and white decor wedding supper the couple planned to depart for the north to begin their married life.

The city mourns the passing of Judge William B. Short aged about ninety two, long known in local circles as Judge Short. He died at his son Tom's home in Omaha after residing here for about thirty years. Born in New York, Short worked many years in the Burlington shops and helped build them. The funeral was held in Omaha then his remains were transported by Burlington train No. 2 for burial here this afternoon.
Lincoln coverage reports waning interest at the Nebraska State Checker association annual tournament in Lincoln. Charles Lee, last year’s president, attended part of the meetings but could not play due to fire department duties and handed the medals to the new winner, C. W. Chambers of Table Rock.
The Denver ceremony linked Miss Gertrude Hamford and Edward Weckbach, formerly of Plattsmouth, on February 7 at St. Elizabeth's church. The event drew many guests, including the couple’s families, and featured a choir, floral decor, and a reception followed by a wedding journey.
The remains of the late William B. Short, who died in Omaha Saturday, arrived in the city at 4 PM. From Burlington depot the body was taken to Oak Hill cemetery, followed by a large funeral cortege. Pallbearers included Bennett Chriswiser Fight Tritsch Cory Sharp and Dr A P Barnes. Relatives accompanying the body were widow Mrs W B Short four sons J H W M A and Frank of Omaha Tom of Chicago daughter Mrs Will Waybright and husband and W T Weaver of Omaha.

McVicar, nephew of A N Sullivan of this city, was to be hanged last January 1st but received an indefinite respite after it was learned she was pregnant. The judge issued the respite to avoid further crime in delivering justice.
