Funeral Services for G. McNurlin Held at Oak Street Home
A large turnout attended the funeral for G. McNurlin at his Oak Street residence. Rev. George Weaver led the service with a Masonic quartet and solo performances. McNurlin, born October 12, 1852, Indiana, died February 8, 1928, after moving with his family to Illinois and then Cass County. He married Mary F. Watson in 1876. three daughters Florence, Dora, and Mrs. Barrett survive, along with John McNurlin, a sister in Alberta, and four grandchildren.

Cotton is a sixty two year Mason and the oldest Mason in the state by membership. The medal was presented by A R Davis of Wayne grand master and Lewis E Smith of Omaha grand secretary. Death of Preston Tankersley During Auburn Visit
Bert Donaldson, visiting Auburn, learned of his uncle Preston Tankersley’s death at Fort Crook after a heart attack. The 72 year old left a wife and seven children including Ray A. Tankersley of Fort Crook and Jr. Bo Tankersley of Lincoln. Funeral services are planned in Auburn on Sunday.

The Sund & Gravel Co. of Omaha plans a large gravel pit at the Nord farm north of town with $30,000 invested and more to follow. D K Eilinge of Omaha secured carpenters and crews to remodel the Nord farm residence for workers. The firm bought T I Pollock’s land for 10,000 and Rutherford’s Nord farm for 220,000, aiming to start construction in sixty days and operate by April with fifty gravel cars daily. The pit lies south of the Platte river bridges near Burlington tracks for convenient rail access, and the operation is expected to become a major state gravel supplier as western road programs grow.
