Chicken Thieves Spur Night Watch by Sheriffs and City Police
Sheriff Bert Reed and local police kept vigils all night along routes north from Auburn attempting to intercept a band of chicken thieves. Death of James McBride in Tacoma
A sad message announced the death of James McBride son in law of Mr and Mrs L H Peterson. He died Thursday afternoon in Tacoma Washington after pneumonia. He had lived here for years and married Minnie McMahon before moving west in 1926. He is survived by a wife a son two daughters and several stepchildren. Funeral and interment will be in Tacoma Saturday afternoon.

Mrs. Edna Young Dies in California
Mrs. Edna Young widow of J. Phillip Young died at her Palo Alto home in California. She came to Plattsmouth in the 1870s with her husband who ran a book and stationary store, later moved to Lincoln where he died. Her body will lie in a Palo Alto vault until spring then be interred at Wyuka Cemetery beside her husband.

Fire near Fourth and Main sparks close call
A serious blaze erupted last night around 11 o clock in a building at Fourth and Main. The fire started in the rear of the second floor above the Coryells apartments and south of the Bakers. Firefighters arrived and extinguished the flames, but the incident caused damage to the building and alarm residents. Water and smoke damaged the first and second floors and put the Coryells’ living rooms at risk briefly.

Bridge Worker in Osage City Burned in Tank Explosion
A Woods Brothers Construction foreman, A. F. Alexander, was badly burned when a 300 gallon boat tank exploded during pipe thawing with a torch. He fell ten feet, leapt into the Osage river, and was hospitalized in Jefferson City, Missouri, under constant care. An assistant was also thrown. a bystander landed in the river as the boat sank. Alexander, at work on the Missouri Pacific bridge over the Platte river, is slowly improving after a week of blindness from the burns.
