Vote Planned for New Cass County Jail in 1913

Cass County Nebrads officials propose a 12000 dollar bond issue to build a county jail in Plattsmouth. The measure asks voters to authorize a one year special tax to fund the jail project, with a April 8, 1913 election date and explicit ballot wording for and against the proposal.

A suit to quiet title was filed in district court yesterday in Simon Cruber v Haltie Barnum Wills et al. The plaintiff has held possession for ten years and seeks to invalidate transfers from years past and receive clear title to the land. The property is located near the village of Union.

Death of a well known former Cass County deputy sheriff

Friends in this city were shocked by the death of J. Eikenbary the former Cass County deputy sheriff who died after a fall at the Lincoln Traction Company power plant while showing his grandson through the plant. He served as sheriff of Cass County and spent years in public service. Funeral services will be held Sunday at the Methodist church with interment at Horning Cemetery.

Bigamy Charge Leads Sheriff to Elmwood Arrest

Sheriff Quinton sent to Elinwood to detain W. J. H. McDonald on bigamy charges. McDonald, with a wife in Montana and another in the county, will be returned to Montana to stand trial after Montana authorities travel here. He had recently bought a garage in Elmwood and was starting a business.
