Old Diplomas From Early Settlers Displayed

Death of an early resident of this vicinity
George Henton, an early Nebraska resident, died January 8 at his daughter’s home in Auburn at 79 years old. A Civil War veteran, he served in the 15th and 155th Indiana Infantry regiments, endured major battles, and was never wounded. He left a wife Lydia Eikenbury and children Frank E., Ethel Harris, and George Earle. Madge Lydia died young.

Obituary: Mr Henton Dies in Auburn Neb After Illness
Mr Henton died at Auburn Nebraska January 8 1924 at 6 20 am after a three month illness. He leaves an aged sister Ovan da Mullis of Minatare Nebraska three children twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Auto Takes a Spin at High School Building
John Ginaze, a tavi driver for the Sunshine Concert party, left his Ford unattended in front of the high school. The downhill street sent the car toward Burlington station. Pioneer Lady Dies After 88 Years of Nebraska Life
Wilhelmina Sicll Sturm, born September 25 1835 in Necklenberg Germany, died January 30 near Nehawka at her son Henry P Sturm home. Survived by two sons and a daughter, she helped settle Nebraska from 1856 and remained devoted Lutheran. Her life was marked by early state settlement and enduring family ties.

Obituary of Mrs Peter Eveland
Sarah M Metteer was born December 28 1844 in Bradford county Pennsylvania. She moved with her parents to Muscatine county Iowa in 1865 and married Peter Eveland later moving to Cass county Nebraska near Elmwood. They had nine children eight daughters and one son. six daughters survive with father and other relatives. Mrs Eveland died January 19 1924 in Long Beach California after a brief illness.
