The landmark stood over sixty years and used timber from Mills County Iowa. Mrs. William Herold, a daughter of Plattsmouth's founder, honors the town’s heritage.

Prisoners Taken To The Penitentiary This Morning
Steve Hazeska and James Burns, who pled guilty in district court last Thursday to burglary in breaking into a bank car in the Burlington yards, were moved to Lincoln today to begin indeterminate sentences of one to ten years in the state penitentiary. The county commissioners this week took up several matters including bids for contracts for supplies and county physicians for the coming year. Shack near Plattsmouth burns on Pollock land
Yesterday afternoon a small shack on the Pollock land east of the Plattsmouth Water company pumping station caught fire and burned for several minutes. The building, once occupied by a river work bachelor, was probably unoccupied except for drifters resting from the cold, and arson by unknown visitors is suspected.

Young folks enjoy first coasting party
Last evening a large number of High School students gathered for a coasting party on High School Hill. Several bobsleds slid down the hill for hours, bringing merriment to both boys and girls. One sled reached the subway, setting the pace for the others despite the hill’s poor condition.
