Mrs. A. L. Cockle of 704 South Thirty sixth street Omaha suffered arm bruises when struck by a car at Sixteenth and Harney Thursday night. Driver was H. E. Lang of 4714 South Forty seventh street. She was treated at Clarkson hospital. Previously Miss Eda Marquardt of Avoca, she served Cass county as superintendent of schools from 1917 to 1981 before moving to Omaha.

Pipeline Work Reaches Northern Otoe County
The natural gas pipeline from Oklahoma to Chicago now reaches northern Otoe County with twenty four inch mains ready to cross into Cass County toward Plattsmouth. Burlington shipments of pipe have arrived for the route as hundreds of workers and families move to the area, drawn by the expected rebuild along the Missouri River. Mrs. Alberta Hyers Davies aged sixty one died recently at Methodist hospital Omaha. She lived in Butte since the late 1890s and was active in the local Presbyterian church. Fire Rages Through Wintersteen Hill Residence and Barn
Early Friday a frame residence on Wintersteen Hill occupied by the Frank Sheldon family burned to the ground along with the nearby barn and part of the surrounding fence. Neighbors spotted the blaze about 1 am as flames spread from roof to upper floors. firemen arrived after the house was a total wreck. Several chickens left in the old home basement perished in the fire. A stream of water fought the smoldering ruins and threatened adjacent property.

Henry Hubbard Cass County Pioneer Dies at 94
Henry Hubbard 94, longtime Cass County resident, died in Weeping Water Friday. He helped build the frontier town and, 74 years ago, aided in erecting the first grist mill to serve local settlers. Hubbard enlisted in 1862 with the Second Nebraska Infantry under Captain Isaac Wiles and served against active Indian campaigns before returning to Weeping Water in 1864 with his bride.
