William Gilmour Pioneer of Cass County Dies

William Gilmour a long time Cass county resident died Sunday at his farm home south of the city after a long period of illness. Born September 20 1848 in Portina Michigan he came west in the 1850s and later settled near Rock Bluffs and Council Bluffs. He served in the Second Nebraska Infantry during the Civil War era and left behind three sons James Gilmour William Gilmour Jr Samuel T. Gilmour and two daughters Mrs B W Livingston and Mrs Hester Butler. Interment was at Rock Bluffs Cemetery following services at his home conducted by Rev W A Taylor.

Citizens across Case, Otoe and Sarpy counties filed petitions Monday urging the renomination of W. B. Banning of Union for the Democratic primary in April. He has long led the party in the state senate and is praised as a non partisan fighter for taxpayers and district residents. The three counties gave him a large 1926 majority.

Mrs Christina Burr Dies In Chicago After Long Illness

Christina Burr a Portage County resident died in Chicago after months of illness. Born January 29 1833 in Poppentien Germany she lived in Marblehead Ohio before moving to Plattsmouth. Survived by children R A Bracken Akron OH A L Carey Chicago John Burr Hanley Lesk Frank Burr Chicago and several grandchildren. Funeral Saturday at 2 PM from Mrs Joseph W Warga’s home with Rev H G McClusky in charge.

Funeral of Mrs Luschinsky in First Methodist Church

Funeral services for Mrs. George Luschinsky were held at 2 30 PM at the First Methodist church with Rev. Harold Sorter delivering a tribute. Masonic quartet performed three requested hymns as family and friends filled the capacity crowd then the body was buried in Oak Hill Cemetery. Barbara Gobelman, born 1874 in St Jacobs Sinois, married in 1889 to George Luschinsky and survived by four children and a large extended family.

The operation was successful but she has not rallied and faces weakness in recuperation. Medical staff remains hopeful that treatment will restore strength in the coming days.
