Cousin Dies in Battle in France for Country
Private Clarence J Hunger, son of Mr and Mrs William Hunezer, was killed in action in France on October 17. He left Burlington for Camp Dodge in February and later served at a southern camp before sailing for France. He arrived May 23 and fought in frontline trenches, writing home about going over the top on his birthday September 29. Flags in Burlington flew at half staff in his memory.

Death Fakes Mother Of Large Family In 1918 Tragedy
Mrs. E. S. Mason nee Laura Burk of Falls City died December 18 1918 after a week long influenza illness at her home south of the city. She left husband E. S. Mason and five children including Mrs. Charles Allen Plattsmouth and Bertie Mason in Everett Kansas. She also leaves a father and three brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be at 2 20 p m tomorrow at the Christian church with Rev L W Scott, interment at Elkenberry cemetery.

Gunner George Krivanek Returns Home From Navy Service
