A. M. Arries reports that Corporal Elliott Arries has been wounded a second time in France and is in hospital. Byron E. Arries wounded July 19 and again November 1, both in the Sixth Marine Regiment, Major Arries wounded October 4 in the Fifth. The two regiments have fought alongside the Rainbow Division on the western front. A general notification was mailed from Washington today.

John L Mayfield a Burlington employee died from Spanish influenza and pneumonia after a week of illness. Born September 22 1884 he was married April 13 1907 to Sophis Gertrude Petersen and left a daughter Irma Leona. He is survived by his wife parents Roy and Nellie Mayfield and C H Ames. Funeral at his home Tuesday December 31 at 2 00 pm conducted by Rev L W Scott.

State agents nab man with booze near Omaha
