Mat Meyers of Avoca, a well known local figure, died last night after suffering a stroke. He had not been in good health for some time but remained mobile until his illness proved serious. He was 52 and a prominent county figure, a brother-in-law of George Pane.

Burlington shops adopt eight hour work schedule
This morning the freseotht car repair department at the Burlington shops moved to an eight hour schedule for the winter months. They will start at 7:30 and quit at 3:30 in the afternoon.
