Condition Worsens For Mrs West In Omaha Note

Early Nebraska pioneer Shaffer dies in Bickleton

Letters from Washington report the death of William Henry Shaffer at his Bickleton home on November 19 at age 84. A longtime Plattsmouth community leader and developer of Shafferville, he was a devout Christian and left a daughter Nellie. He was buried in Bickleton on November 22.

Mal Meyers Dies After Stroke at 52 in Avoca

Mat Meyers of Avoca, a well known local figure, died last night after suffering a stroke. He had not been in good health for some time but remained mobile until his illness proved serious. He was 52 and a prominent county figure, a brother-in-law of George Pane.

Burlington shops adopt eight hour work schedule

This morning the freseotht car repair department at the Burlington shops moved to an eight hour schedule for the winter months. They will start at 7:30 and quit at 3:30 in the afternoon. The winter departments will keep their current hours for a while longer. Workers will receive a full day on Saturdays instead of the half day in recent weeks.
