Young man held for forgery in Nehawka area case
Gerald Hendress, a youth who worked near Nehawka last summer, was arrested Tuesday in Omaha on forgery charges. He allegedly forged checks signed as Herbert Stoll, a Nehawka farmer he worked for, for amounts from 5 to 12.50 dollars. He was turned over to Sheriff Homer Sylvester and held in jail pending arraignment.

Youth Pleads Guilty in Grand Larceny Case in County Court
Charles Young a 17 year old from Omaha was arraigned for grand larceny after stealing a trumpet from William Henrichsen and selling it for 11 dollars. He pled guilty and received a sentence to the State industrial school at Kearney. The district court noted the boy’s hardship, with a WPA father earning 54 dollars monthly, rent of 10 dollars, and a mother in a hospital.

Pioneer of Elmwood Dies at Age of 89
James Gamble a wealthy retired farmer died at his Elmwood area home aged 89 after a long migration from Ireland. He with his brother Aaron settled in Ohio then Nebraska in 1879, married Mary Atchison in 1873 and had nine children with many descendants. Funeral Monday at Elmwood Christian church with burial there.

Severe fall confines Mrs Briggs at home on Locust Street
Mrs. M. S. Briggs suffered a severe fall Saturday afternoon in her yard. She bruised a leg and struck her forehead with a chunk of wood. Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Franzen and their daughter visited Sunday at the Briggs home in Omaha.
