John Beckner, seventeen, who worked for Chas Creamer on the Levi Churchhill farm southwest of Rock Bluff, was found dead yesterday hanging from a tree with a harness line. Neighbors and officials investigated. motive remains unknown.

Murder Attempt at Bailey Sanatorium Reported
Irene Nickel, a demented patient from Alvo, poured carbolic acid on sleeping attendant J Gallogly at Bailey Sanatorium in Lincoln. The coroner’s jury found death due to acid exposure and cleared the sanatorium of blame. Nickel contemplated poisoning herself or the man to stop presumed danger to her family. She wore handcuffs during the act. Gallogly died at 8 o clock, three hours after the incident. Trene Nickel, also of Alvo, has been at the sanatorium for months seeking recovery.

Serious Accident at Nehawka Injures Philpot Family
Ernest Philpot his wife and three children were in a buggy pulled by untrained western horses when a passing engine caused the team to bolt at Nehawka crossing. Mrs Philpot suffered a severe facial wound and two children were only bruised. the husband was knocked unconscious and his jaw broken. The buggy was demolished and wreckage lay along the track. The family planned to attend the Old Settlers Reunion in Union.

Death of James McNealy Found On Louisville Sidewalk
A Louisville druggist found James McNealy a local butcher lying dead on the sidewalk. Coroner’s inquest suggested heart failure as the cause, with drinking since the Fourth of July noted by witnesses.
