Iowa Nebraska Light and Power announced acceptance of the NRA code for electric and gas workers. The plan imposes forty hour weeks in service departments and forty eight hour weeks in plants with minimum wages of 14 dollars weekly in large cities and 12 dollars weekly in smaller towns. The change, effective in Nebraska Iowa and Missouri, raises annual costs by about 80000 dollars and shifts a 3 percent federal tax to the company. John E Curtiss Lincoln district manager said higher revenue from better business conditions could offset rate increases.

Flood experience in Denver disrupts Bairds’ visit

Their train battled heavy rain and debris filled the Platte river, and reaching the city they found the station ringed by floodwater. Bridges over Cherry Creek blocked access to their daughter’s home and the countryside club district lay buried in mud. The Cecil dairy on Cherry Creek, a modern plant with 100 cows, was wiped out.

Death of Orson A. Scott at Nebraska Masonic Home
Orson A. Scott, 82, died Monday at the Nebraska Masonic Home after years of declining health. Born May 28, 1851 in Sterling Illinois, he lived much of his life in Fremont and Cedar Bluffs and belonged to Occidental lodge No 215. He moved to the Masonic Home January 5, 1931 and is survived by five sons and two daughters in Dodge and Saunders counties. Funeral services will be held in Cedar Bluffs, with the body taken there last night.
