The Dovey sisters Alice and Ella Margaret arrive with the Minnehaha ship. Alice Dovey sang on the voyage and received a notice to delay engagements until seeing a sender in New York. She signs with Hough & Adams for the Stubborn Cinderella opening May 25 in Chicago at the New Princess Theatre with Jack Barrimore in the cast. Ella Margaret to arrive home soon. Disastrous Fire at Murdock Destroys Store and Buildings
A fire devastated a store owned by John Leis in Murdock on Tuesday evening, destroying a pool hall restaurant and household goods. Langhorst and Rughe’s store and the local bank suffered broken windows as residents and the fire department fought to stop spread to nearby structures. W. E. Rosencrans, visiting Elmwood, witnessed the blaze from the ruins yesterday.
