Easter Day Observances Highlight City Religious Services
Easter day 1935 featured ideal weather and large crowds at city churches. St Luke’s held a sunrise service, Canon Potter returned from Falls City for the 11 o’clock Mass, and choirs performed special music. Catholic and Protestant churches reported strong attendance, with sermons by Father Agius, Father Kaczmarek, and Rev. C O Troy. The Presbyterian service drew Mt Zion commandery members in uniform and banners, with the choir singing Victory. Rev H G McClusky spoke on The Resurrection Body, and other churches hosted communion and special programs in a daylong celebration.

Death of Aged Mrs Philpot at Weeping Water
Mrs Charles Philpot of Weeping Water died Saturday in an Omaha hospital after a hip fracture. She resided in the area for over sixty years and with her husband celebrated their sixty fifth wedding anniversary. Survived by six sons, three daughters, two brothers. Body returned to Weeping Water for funeral services.

Showing Improvement of City Barber at Hospital
Charles Waters, barber at the Hotel Riley shop, has been a patient at Nicholas Leen hospital in Omaha for a week of treatments. Howard Fullerton, owner of the shop, visited him Sunday and found Waters much improved in every way. Doctors hope he may soon return home and resume his duties.

Robert W Black longtime Cass County resident and pioneer family member died today at an Omaha hospital after three weeks of care. He was born September 21 1855 in DeKalb County Illinois and lived in Plattsmouth since childhood with farming as his main occupation. Survived by two sisters Mrs O E Kirkpatrick Nehawka and Mrs Martha Reed Council Bluffs. Body to be brought to Sattler funeral home for arrangements.

Two naturalization papers were granted as the Patriotic Council held a welcome service for new citizens led by Shirley Keck and featuring remarks by Mrs. J. C. Peterson Sr. and others. Judge Besley presided as the court opened. the first case, Troy Shrader vs Dr. E H Kintner, seeks damages from alleged injuries after X ray treatments.

In Tarkio Missouri last Friday and Saturday Plattsmouth high students excelled in declamatory and track events. George Adam won first in oratorical finals and also ran ninth in an open half mile while Stuart Porter took second in shot put with 39 feet 10 inches.

In Weeping Water county court the State of Nebraska vs Harrison Wade ended with a verdict of guilty on charges of assault and battery.
