The South Sixth Street package liquor store, long run by Fred Sharpnack since liquor legalization, has been sold to Robert Sedlak. Sedlak plans to take over the business at the start of the month. Sharpnack will pursue other activities and cannot oversee the store. Sedlak, formerly at Ptak tavern for two years, is a well known local young man.

Milk Producers Rally to Protest Milk Sales Fees
About 125 to 150 farmers from Cass Sarpy Douglas and Washington counties met at La Platte Community Building to oppose Omaha milk sale inspection charges of 2 to 12 dollars and current base prices 1.75 per hundred for bottled milk and 1.55 for No 2 milk. They passed protests to Congress and the surplus crop agency, urged pegged prices for better returns, and pledged to boycott merchants who buy from Omaha wholesalers unless inspection fees are removed. The group belongs to the Iowa Nebraska Milk Producers association with 2200 members in western Iowa and eastern Nebraska.

Fire destroys Ralph Wiles home near Plattsmouth
The country house of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph M. Wiles three miles southwest of Plattsmouth burned Sunday afternoon in a blaze of undetermined origin. Firemen could not save the two story residence though they prevented spread to outbuildings. The show place built in the 1890s by J. E. Eikenbary was insured but personal property and furnishings were lost. Suspected causes include faulty wiring or an overheated furnace.
