Busses Ready for Plano Night Trip to Arlington Stadium

Plano Night will send more than 1100 Pianeites to watch the Rangers vs Athletics with a 15-bus caravan from Plano Senior High School. Buses depart 6 30 p m from the east parking lot with escorts to Arlington Stadium and return. Thompson urges riders to arrive by 6 15 p m to ensure a seat.

Armed Robber Hits Cody Jones Finn Station on North Central

A professional bandit robbed the Cody Jones Finn Station at 1404 North Central Expressway at 10 37 p.m. fleeing in a blue 1967 Chevrolet Impala driven by an unidentified accomplice. The employee was unharmed, pushed to the floor and threatened with a pistol. Police investigated 11 burglaries 11 thefts 177 calls for assistance and 11 arrests in Plano that weekend.

County Solons Accept Tax Roll In Routine Meeting

Collin County Commissioners Court accepted the 1976 tax roll item by item with possible changes by the County Equalization Board. They approved a $1000 bond for Robert Dry for Precinct 5 Justice of the Peace and a $2000 bond for Marvin L. Smith for Precinct 2 public weigher. Advertising bids were approved for a new sheriff department car to replace a burned unit, with award set for July 14. The courthouse will close next Monday due to the Fourth of July Bicentennial weekend and no court session will be held.

City Council approves bonds and plans third fire station

The council authorized 2.6 million dollars in general obligation bonds, awarded a 161 647 bid to W T Harden for a third fire station, and approved six planning cases including annexation zoning for 56.5 acres west of Coit Road on FM 544. Fireworks blamed for Plano blazes as investigation continues

Fire Marshal Bill Threet says illegal fireworks sparked one Plano grass fire near Independence and Dallas North Picagues with matches found at the pasture edge. A separate grass fire west of Fire Station No 2, plus dumpster fires and tire fires, are under review as police and fire crews respond to incidents reported after shots heard nearby.
