Plano will strictly enforce the city ordinance restricting firework use within city limits and 5000 feet of the boundary. Fire Marshal Bill Threet warns fireworks are dangerous and children should not handle them without close adult supervision. fines range from 25 to 200 dollars with liability on guardians for minors.
Groundbreaking set for 10 am Tuesday as Plano Bank & Trust moves to a 24,500 square foot facility on Alma Rd and FM 544 on 4,033 acres. The complex will feature a two thirds bank space, a large drive in with 12 lanes, two night depositories, air conditioned vault for 5,800 boxes, and 24 hour cash manager feasibility. The remaining third will be lease space. Continued on Page 3.
The City Council plans to advertise 2.6 million dollars in general obligation bonds Monday at 7:30 p.m. in the municipal building. The Capital Improvements Program allocates 1.3 million for streets and drainage, 1.2 million for parks, with smaller sums for planning and building expansions. The meeting also covers Fire Station No. 3 bids, a 181.29 acre Rowlett Creek park purchase, annexation and zoning talks, Pitman Corners plats, five ordinance amendments, sewer-rate variance requests, tax adjustments, and alternate Sign Board of Appeals appointment.
Collin County Red Cross asks for gifts exceeding 1000 to support disaster relief in Guam the Pacific islands Idaho Oklahoma Mississippi Texas and Alaska. Executive secretary Cynthia Cloyd notes Guam typhoon costs near 10 million and total fiscal year relief above 20 million with higher quotas urged. Local quota is 1332 and donations are welcome at the Chapter House McKinney or by mail PLC Box 508 McKinney 75069.
A public open house at the County Government Center Wednesday honors retiring Justice of the Peace Cecil J. Prashaw who has served since April 15 1973. Attorney Robert T. Dry Jr. of Plano will succeed him and be sworn in at 4 30 p m by County Judge Nathan White Jr. A reception follows and center offices close at 3 30 p m to allow staff attendance.
Joe Steenbergen of Plano was chosen by the Collin County Republican executive committee as the GOP nominee for Precinct 5 Justice of the Peace in the November general election. The party’s special meeting also named attorney Robert T. Dry to serve July 1 to Nov. 2 as interim peace justice after Judge C J Prashaw's retirement.
Plano Independent School District trustees will continue reviewing the proposed 1976 77 budget at a 7 30 p m study session in the Board Room of the School Administration Building 1517 Avenue H. The session covers only the Instructional Services portion of the 40 page draft as other sessions are planned before a public hearing and final adoption.
