Nine Hurt in Four Vehicle and Bike Collisions
Police report nine people injured in four separate crashes Monday. Accidents included a 1968 Chevrolet and a 1972 Plymouth at Parker and Custer Roads injuring four, a Honda bike and a bicycle crash on Ranchero Road injuring three, a Volkswagen hitting a bridge on West 15th injuring one, and a Chevrolet hitting two parked cars injuring two.

Texas Republican Chairman Ray Hutchison said he may seek the GOP nomination for governor next year. The former Dallas legislator attacked Dolph Briscoe for lack of leadership and said he will run if he gains sufficient financial support. He alleged the legislature would have passed a school finance bill if Briscoe cared as much about it as highway funding.

Gov Dolph Briscoe said a definite opening date would be set soon for a Texas special session aimed at reaching a better school finance bill than the failed regular session. Without a new bill Plano ISD faces a 30 to 35 cent tax rise to cover salaries and costs.
