Plano City Manager David Griffin foresees growth leveling to about 125 homes monthly in 1977 after a year of 200 plus. The city will pursue four new fire stations, park land, land for landfill operations, a westside service center, a westside golf course, and a new municipal building, while widening FM 544 and finishing park and street projects to attract a regional shopping center.

Robbery Suspects Wounded In Plano Gun Battle
Two robbery suspects were injured in a running gun battle that ended in a west Plano pasture. A 20 year old Dallas man and a 26 year old Plano resident were treated for wounds and jailed, while a 56 year old Farmers Branch man uninjured remains in jail. Bond set at 50000 each. third suspect not yet arraigned. The incident began at 9 23 p m with a 7 Eleven robbery and high speed chase through Richardson toward Arapaho Road and Coit Road.

Ford survives rocky lift scare at Vail ski area
On a Monday ski trip at Vail Mountain a chairlift stalled when a loose wire shut down power for about 90 minutes. President Ford and a Secret Service agent were pulled to safety about 30 feet above ground and no one was in danger. The ride resumed after repairs.

Hurricane Carter Wife Gives Birth After Second Conviction
Thelma Carter gave birth to a six pound baby boy in Paterson New Jersey six days after Robin Hurricane Carter was convicted a second time for the three killings at a Paterson bar. Thelma and the infant were reported in excellent condition at Barnett Memorial Hospital Center.
