TP&L seeks rate hike. plan 25 percent suburban residential rise

TP&L asks Plano City Council and the Public Utility Commission for an 18.4 percent overall revenue adjustment, increasing systemwide revenues by 118 million dollars based on year ending Sept 30 1977. Residential bills could rise about 25.4 percent, with 11 012 kilowatt hours per year costing $8.88 more monthly.

Beer-Wine Hearings Set for Thursday in Plano

About 27 beer and wine license applications from Plano retailers were filed with the Collin County clerk. Judge Nathan E White Jr will hear around 20 at 2 p.m. Thursday in the county courthouse with remaining cases possibly moved to Friday or Tuesday December 27. Licenses from the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission will allow the stores to sell beer and wine for off-premise consumption.

Burglar Steals Guns and Stereo From West Plano Home

Guns and stereo equipment valued at more than a thousand dollars were stolen from a west Plano residence. The owner, away for several days, found the burglary when returning home around noon Monday. A neighbor reported the house was secure at 9 a.m. Sunday.

Plano Reaps Nearly One Million From Local Sales Tax

Plano has collected 918 153 dollars in local sales tax this year with December checks totaling 151 422.84, up 42 percent from 1976. Comptroller Bob Bullock notes 1977 was strong for Texas merchants as eight cities received over 1 million in rebates, including Houston and Dallas, while area cities Richardson and McKinney posted notable sums.

Relay Runners Net 209 Miles in 24-Hour Event

A team of two women and eight men covered 209 miles in a 24-hour relay from noon Friday to noon Saturday. After finishing, they packed their tent and sleeping bags and headed to the State Championship football game in Irving.
