Planning and Zoning Commission votes to approve 16.6 acres of planned development retail zoning at the Parker Coit roads intersection despite objections from planner Buffington who cites existing retail and market balance concerns. The 88.8 acre tract includes 14.8 acres SF-3 duplexes and 57.4 acres SF-2. Kendrick Development to develop. Public hearing on annexation and zoning of 73 acres on White Rock Road west of Coit Road recessed until road alignment with neighboring property owners. First National Bank of Dallas objects to a proposed extension connection of W 15th Street with Dallas North Parkway.

Chase ends with wrecked cadillac amid teen theft suspects

A 17 year old Dallas man and a Plano juvenile led police on a late night chase through Plano and Richardson. The pursuit damaged a 1974 Cadillac, a Volkswagen, and a Plano patrol car with minor injuries to a officer and suspect. The juvenile was released. the 17 year old remains in custody for auto theft.

Collin County Declares High School Football Capital of Texas

County Judge Nathan E. White Jr. presented a unanimous resolution honoring Plano Wildcats and Wylie Pirates for 1977 state titles. Proclamation and photos planned for courthouse lobby with past champions also invited for display.

Christmas Vacationers Start Fires

Seven grass fires, blamed on unsupervised children aged 8 to 12, kept firefighters busy on the first day of Christmas vacation. Fire Marshal Bill Threet cited matches as the ignition source with incidents reported on Custer and Parker, US 75 and Dallas North Parkway, 201 Glacier, 3320 Garner, Timber Forest stairs, 14th and Ridgecrest, and east of Peachtree.

One More Jail Change Approved in McKinney

The Commissioners Court approved a second change order in two weeks for the new courthouse jail complex at Davis and McDonald Streets. Architect Rich Morgan requested $3 240 for third floor floor drains to allow future expansion. Construction aims to have the first two floors operating by June 1978 with third floor expansion as needed.
