Trustees split approval to advertise bids for a multi million dollar athletic stadium. Bids due January 22 1976 for a facility approved in the 1974 bond election. Schrickel Rollins and Assoc to handle the bidding process.
John Clark, head football coach of the Plano Wildcats since 1966, exits the football role to take the Plano ISD athletic director post January 1. He led nine district titles and two state crowns with a 108–17 record over ten years and also coached basketball. The district will field 141 athletic teams next year across multiple sports, in a new City School Multi-Purpose Complex on Spring Creek Parkway.
City Council plans a special 6:15 p.m. session to declare necessity for a 0.245 acre easement on J T Uland property for the Rowlett Creek Sanitary Sewer Interceptor. Negotiations failed over fair cash value. a 50 foot wide strip east of the tract is needed in Daniel Rowlett Survey Abs 738.
Plano Independent School District will release almost 15,100 students at 2:30 p.m. Friday as Christmas holidays begin. Classes resume Monday January 5 after a 16 day break. Administrative offices open mostly during the holiday. all 18 schools closed on December 24 25 26 and January 1.
Police reported thefts of three motor vehicles and multiple items including lumber and a welder as burglars targeted Citizen Band radios. Two 10 year old boys were released to parents after malicious mischief arrests tied to a Sigler Elementary break in.
McKinney resident Claud L. Gidney declares he will run for Collin County Commissioner Precinct 1 in the 1976 election. He notes his veteran status from the Korean War and family ties in the area, including wife Tommie Frances Aaron and two children Charlene Frances and Dwayne Lesslie.
The Band Boosters Club announces a final paper drive to fund the Wildcat Band trip to Washington in May. The drive is set for the coming weekend with home pickups available by calling 423-5027 or 423-3141.
PUSH asks Plano residents to donate food toys clothing and money to help needy families. Call Jerry Johnson at 423-1702 or Allan O'Quinn at 424-7596 to arrange contributions or have families named for assistance. Used clothing will be cleaned and mended and used toys repaired before distribution.
