Skeletons Identified in Lake Lavon Area Remains

A skeleton found near Princeton Speedway was identified as Dallas woman Elvalda Joy Gann, while investigators work to confirm the second skeleton found last week in Blue Ridge Park near Lake Lavon. Collin County officials and Texas Rangers planned a meeting in McKinney to refine the description of the second victim.

Plano area FFA wins awards at district leadership contest

Plano Senior High School FFA placed second in sweepstakes among 14 teams at the District V Area V Leadership Contest in Frisco. Williams High School students won a first and second in skills contests. Senior High earned fifth in conducting team led by Valerie Eldred. Williams placed first in Greenhand farm skills and second in chapter farm skills with a seventh in radio. Haggard's Greenhand team placed fifth in leadership. other officers and teams earned sixth in greenhand quiz. A separate local homicide case involved missing Dallas waitress, Miss Gann, found dead with investigators linking to other cases. medical examiner to ID remains.

Burglary Suspect Arrested in Plano

Plano police arrested a juvenile suspect in a residential burglary last week. Four others were taken into custody including three illegal aliens and a shoplifter. Dairy Queen on Avenue K reported theft and burglary with an undetermined amount of money taken. A major accident at 15th and K left two with minor injuries. A 1974 Chevrolet and a 1970 Opel collided at 10:20 p.m. Crasbtree and Ricky Luttrell were hospitalized.

Brush fires reported around Crossbend and Los Rios area

The Plano Fire Dept says a brush fire occurred at 12:55 a.m. south of Crossbend and a separate tree fire was put out at Los Rios Country Club near the golf course at 6:28 p.m. on Wednesday. Firefighters also handled a grease fire at 3393 Sherwood and checked a false grass-fire alarm.

Carson offered $1 million to star in Nightworks film

Johnny Carson was offered a $1 million movie role in Irwin Shaw’s Nightworks on NBC television by Shaw’s agent Irving Lazar. Carson quipped about playing Joan of Arc for a million, while NBC said he was considering the offer. The role is the lead night clerk in a flophouse.

Warwick wins divorce from Bill Elliott in Los Angeles

Singer Dionne Warwick aged 34 is granted divorce from actor Bill Elliott 41 after 10 years of marriage. Warwick receives custody of their two sons aged 2 and 6. Community property division to be decided at a trial next year.
