Alfalfa Seized as Marijuana in Lewisville Case

Five kilos of suspected marijuana were found by narcotics officers but tests showed the material was alfalfa. Police chief David Fowler said the group tried to sell it as cannabis at 200 dollars per kilo and noted no legal charges could apply for deceptive practice.

Crime drops 11.4 percent in July FBI report

A police briefing shows July major crimes total 166 vs 185 in June. Burglary down 47.6 percent, theft up 4.6 percent, auto theft up 150 percent. Clear rates: 27 percent overall, with 25 percent property recovered. Juvenile arrests total 47 amid diverse offenses.

One Way Traffic Plan At Jackson Elementary Plano

Plano officials will test uni directional traffic control at Jackson Elementary during school hours 7 to 9 am and 2 to 4 pm with left turns onto Forester Way and Stanford Dr prohibited. A crosswalk at Stanford and Jackson will be added and crossing guards stationed at several locations to aid student safety.

Kindergarten Open House is scheduled Friday August 15 between 1 and 3 p.m. at the Piano Public Schools. Parents may bring children to their future school to tour rooms and meet teachers. A class schedule for morning and afternoon sessions will be available.

LA County moves to reopen Kennedy assassination probe

The Los Angeles Board of Supervisors voted 5-0 to back a suit seeking whether Sirhan Sirhan acted alone or a second gun was involved. The county counsel and district attorney’s office will reexamine ballistics from the 1969 trial, while Acting DA John Howard urged caution on overturning the conviction.

Natatorium in Plano to Close for Repairs

The City of Plano Community Natatorium will close Monday August 18 through Sunday August 31 for repairs. It will reopen Monday September 1 for public swim with Labor Day hours 1:30 to 9 p.m. After Labor Day hours shift to 7 to 9 p.m. Monday Wednesday Friday 1:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday. County Deputy Shot to Death in Denison Texas

A Collin County deputy and another man fought with a pistol and knife at the officer’s ex wife’s home. The deputy, Homer Leon Hayes, 55, of Denison, died from a gunshot. The other man was critically wounded. a second man had multiple stab wounds. The woman present was unharmed.
