Baltusrol Plans New 140 Acre Golf Course Expansion

Postal ruling closes war tax evasion on three-cent rate

The Postmaster General ruled that letters moved by messenger and mailed in a city for local delivery do not qualify for the two-cent rate, ending a scheme by firms with many intercity deliveries. Beginning December 1, 1917, parcels with postage of twenty-five cents or more face a one-cent tax per twenty-five cents or fraction, to be paid by the sender. lower rates on parcels under twenty-five cents remain unchanged.
