In memoriam to Corporal Frank I Donnelly known as Bus, a Plainfield native, who died in France while serving with Company G BAe and later honored as drum major of the St Marys T A B Society. The tribute recalls his valor and community impact before his death.
Word reached his sisters Mrs. William Jaeger of 740 West Fourth street and Mrs. Charles Keiderling Jr. of 262 East Front street that Sergeant Irving Dea Kyne was killed in action in France on October 31. He had lived with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Dea Peet of Franklin Park, and is survived by three sisters and two brothers. In 1912 he worked as boatman for Thomas M. Muir at Camp Ram’s Horn on Lake Hopatcong, piloting the boats Marle M and Ethel H. He will be remembered by Plainfield friends who enjoyed lake trips under his guidance.
The Albert C. Stebbins property at 835 West Seventh Street was sold last week, yielding about 20000 for Muhlenberg Hospital. The modern house and grounds, plus imported furnishings, were part of the estate from longtime Pond Machine Tool Co. executive Stebbins. Net proceeds bring his hospital gift total to roughly 100000, with 40000 invested in Liberty Bonds for steady income. Also notes corrections for the Honor Roll and a separate incident of James P. Mottley escaping an army truck with a sprained ankle on Broadway.
Musicale by Misses BE Messerschmitt Mae Helen Adaline Jennié Messerschmitt of Trenton to honor Sister Mary Cecilia reverend mother of Mt. St. Marys College. Program includes quartet cello harp piano violin solo airs and classics with contralto solos and a final Rondo Elegante.

Robert Schreiner, of Schreiner Brothers, was struck by a car driven by Mrs A Cathcart on Central Avenue late Saturday afternoon. He sustained two fractured ribs, a facial cut requiring stitches, a cut over an eye, a badly cut nose, and severe bruises while riding his bicycle and was dragged several feet. Dr Raphael Wood attends him. The crash is blamed on Cathcart for making a sudden turn without seeing Schreiner. the car belonged to her uncle Andrew R Stevens of 943 Grant Avenue.
Seventy five people attended a euchre and 500 game in St Marys Social Hall last night hosted by the St Marys auxiliary to the Red Cross. Mrs John J Green and Mrs Francis J Keenan coordinated the event. Refreshments followed play with prizes awarded for both games. Mr and Mrs James McDonough won first 500 prizes. he received an umbrella and she a 2.50 gold piece. First euchre prize went to Mrs Louis Hendrickson, a silk knitting item. Other prizes went to Edward F Cullen, Mrs Phil Maguire, Louis Hendrickson, Mrs Scheelin, Miss Mary Brady, Mrs Don J Galbraith, Miss Gertrude Bic, Miss Rose Rash, Knowlton, Mrs Albert Figcock, Cornelius J Bee and J J McCann.

Officials note this may be one of the first documented cases of a patient being struck by these illnesses a second time in a short period, challenging the belief of lasting immunity after recovery.

Sweden born Private Lundstrom died on his twenty third birthday after serving with Company A 311th Infantry. He came to America with his father after his mother’s death, lived in Plainfield most of his life, and worked at the Standard Aero Company before being drafted in 1917. He served at St Mihiel Grand Pre and Sedan, with Camp Dix and overseas service. Friends describe him as upright and a credit to his people, the sole son of a sorrowing father and stepmother who raised him and shared in community sympathy.
The Sisters and Students of Mt St Mary's College hosted a reception Wednesday night for Rev Father P J Clune newly named rector of St Joseph's Church in the borough. Priests from nearby parishes attended as a program including music recitals and a welcome address were presented.
