Plainfield Memorial Committee overhaul urged amid wartime losses
The piece criticizes May Calkins' Memorial Advisory Committee for including few local families with fallen or wounded sons. It notes only eight of twenty eight have sons serving or who died, argues for broader inclusion, and calls for funding measures to support municipal pay without heavy tax hikes. It also mentions upcoming city budget talks and a proposed bonus plan to ease salary concerns during hard times.
