Mooresville High Opens With 180 Students

Mooresville high school opened on the same date as local schools with an enrollment of 180. Baseball basketball and horseshoe pitching are favored by the boys while girls organize a Girls Athletic Association with over 80 members.

Extension class on hygiene for local teachers organized

A university extension course on hygiene has been organized for teachers in the local schools and other residents. The first lecture was delivered last Thursday evening at the senior high school building.

Timber dealer buys Baldock home. to move in soon

C. H. Cook, a Greencastle timber dealer, purchased the James Baldock residence on North Avon Ave. He plans to relocate his family there within about thirty days and expects to conduct timber business locally.

DePauw Opens Football Season Against Milikin

DePauw University hosts James Milikin to open the football schedule at McKeen Field on Saturday afternoon. Coach Ashmore, a former Milikin mentor, works to sharpen the squad for the season debut. Milikin defeated DePauw in their last meeting, and the Tigers seek revenge. Freshmen are expected to start, with other spots filled from the past two years’ rosters.

Obituary Israel Light Dies After Illness in Sheldon

Israel Light born July 6 1873 Freedom Owen County Indiana died Sept 21 1922 Sheldon Illinois after paralysis. He lived north of Kentland Indiana taught school near Brook married Nettie Wood then Farn Lewellyn to whom he had three children Edwin Ward Helen and Harold. He worked for railroads before becoming a pattern maker at National Malleable Co Indianapolis. He leaves wife three children three sisters four brothers and many relatives. He joined church early and served in Sunday School leaving a Christian life as his lasting legacy.
