Annual Meeting of Sugar Grove Friends Held at Early Session

The Western Yearly Meeting of the Society of Friends at Sugar Grove met for its annual assembly from Friday to Wednesday. Attendance remained high, epistles from Germany and Dublin Yearly Meeting highlighted the session, and an educational program for youths was presented on Saturday evening. Officers include Arthur Stanley clerk and Harvey Pickett assistant clerk for men Friends. Anna Harvey clerk and Delphina Haworth assistant clerk for women Friends.

Indiana school book prices fixed by law for 1922

A government price list lists school books with fixed costs from 22 to 198 cents and notes some covers show wrong prices. It lists titles such as Child Classis Primer and American History and Government, and sets entry age at six by January 9, 1922. It urges sending pupils with money as cash sales, noting over 500 pupils to serve soon.

Scott School Reunion Draws Crowd despite Rain

The Scott school reunion at the school grove on Sunday afternoon drew good attendance despite inclement weather. A short program in the auditorium featured Will Terrell as the favorite performer with a tune blending the multiplication table to Yankee Doodle. Several local visits noted include Miss Margaret Donald of Knights town at Paul McElroy’s home and Miss Lizzie Candy visiting from Friday to Sunday. The Mitchell reunion is set for September 11 at the Hamblens north of Plainfield, as Amos Mitchell and family plan to return from Tennessee. Birth announced at Deaconess hospital on August 29: twin girls Lola Marie and Lucile Elizabeth to Mr. and Mrs. John Dungan.

Soldier's Body in Transit Arrives in New York for Nysewander
