Obituary of John A. Miles of Plainfield Indiana
John A. Miles born December 29 1844 in Hendricks County Indiana died October 16 1921 at his home near Plainfield aged 76 years 9 months 17 days. He served in Co A 117th Indiana Volunteers and married Flora Fritz with six children five surviving Nettie Reed er Emma Thomas J Harry Miles Edith and Strong Miles. A devout churchman he became a Christian through his eldest daughter and led in Sunday School and Bible study. He was noted for industry honesty philanthropy and guiding his children toward integrity and self reliance. He is survived by two brothers Thomas Miles near Clayton and Samuel Miles of Ashdown Arkansas seven grandchildren and many relatives.
