Plainfield edged old rival Amo High School 21-19 in a tense see-saw game. The local squad, praised as the Fighting Five, led by two at halftime and relied on improved foul shooting to secure the victory.
The Murat Chanters of Indiana polis will perform at the Boys School Sunday afternoon in the chapel exercises. About eighty members, with Omer L. Cook as president and Arnold Spencer as secretary, will entertain. Ralph W. Swearengin, formerly of this place, is among the group. They have visited an Indianapolis hospital monthly to sing for patients.
Mr and Mrs Jesse Chrisman new owners of the corner restaurant formerly owned by Will Dean, Cicero residents who have made improvements and earned quick patronage. Mr and Mrs William Chrisman of Indianapolis plan to move here soon to work with the proprietor, his brother, while editors vouch for the Chrismans integrity and wish them success.
The M E Ladies Aid held an auction and supper two weeks ago raising between ninety and ninety five dollars. Indianapolis visitors include Mrs C A Sheller and J B Fansler. Mrs Urban Pope and Miss Margaret Landrum attended events. Chili supper planned for Saturday November 18 by the Ladies Aid. Miss Landrum on furlough spoke at the local church. Miss Helen Wilkins from Indianapolis region mentioned in notes.
County enrollment data show 38 Hendricks students at IU this fall as total university enrollment nears 3,233 with expectations above 4,800 for the year. Listed are students from Amo to Winterheimer, including Danville, Plainfield, and Hendricks towns, plus four in Indianapolis nursing and medical programs.
John Clinton Owens born Hawkins County Tennessee August 11 1848. He moved to Indiana in 1855 and lived near Cartersburg for his life. Enlisted at 17 in 1865 in Company A 156th Indiana Infantry and served until the war’s end. Married Mary Robinson in 1874. they had three children, two of whom and the wife have passed away. He died Saturday morning November 4 1922.

The Nazarene Church announces revival services starting Sunday November 12 at 7:30 p.m. with evening services daily at 7:30. Sunday School at 9:30 a.m. William Guyer presiding, Rev Geo Brinkman and Flora Brinkman listed as pastors. Van services available on N Vine Street near the Junior High School. All are invited.
Mrs Myra Cope Bond and her daughter arrived Tuesday afternoon after a month’s trip from British East Africa where Mrs Bond and her husband Dr Bond have been stationed as missionaries.
The M E Ladies Aid will serve a chili supper at the Ma sonic store room on Saturday evening November 18 from 5 to 7 o clock. Menu includes chili celery pickles crackers butter pie coffee with prices 25 cents for chili crackers butter pickles and 5 cents for celery pie and coffee each.
At Miss Iva Inman’s home the Home Economics Department met Friday afternoon with 25 attendees. Demonstrations on diets for all body types, kitchen appliances, and a lesson from Feeding the Family were presented as hostesses served Bavarian jello cake and coffee.
Two teams Mutts and Jeffs competed in a ladies home journal subscription drive at the Senior High last week. Fifty cents per subscription went to a piano fund. winners were Mary Aletha Harrison and George Rogers with gold pencils, three subscriptions earned silver pencils. Mutts won 45 to 35, Jeffs plan a party.
Rev Gardner and Rev McMurray delivered talks last week. The domestic science class cleared over 21 dollars at its Saturday market. Attendance has been good since the term began until this week when several Junior High students contracted chickenpox.
Dr Thurman B Rice of Indiana University extension division lectures at Senior High School tonight. The topics are The Prevention of Cancer and Evidences of Good and Bad Stock in the Human Race. Lectures start at 6 and carry eight university credits for the two courses.
Plainfield sent 30 to 40 delegates the largest turnout at a Y M C A Armistice Day gathering. Brigadier General Everson of Muncie spoke, noting selfishness as a root cause of war and criticizing European inaction over Turkish atrocities.
The girls of the M. M. Club will repair old toys and dress donated dolls to aid unhappy children at Christmas. Leave items at the library.
Children can attend a story hour at the Public Library this Saturday afternoon from 2 to 3 o'clock.
