Plainfield High School Holds 21st Commencement

The twenty first annual Plainfield High School commencement was held Friday evening at the Friends church. J A Stump of Indianapolis delivered the address urging a high ideal in life, cooperation over competition, and paddling one’s own canoe. Diplomas were awarded by Supt. A L Johnson to twenty four graduates including Olive Charles who gave the valedictory.

Indiana Boys' School holds junior high commencement

The third annual junior high commencement at the Indiana Boys' School was held in the chapel. Rev. Louden A. Harrison represented the State Board of Charities and delivered the address. Diplomas were presented to twenty-five eighth grade and twenty-seven ninth grade graduates.

W I C Society Hosts Celebration for Mrs Little at DeWeese Home

The W I C Society of the Baptist Church entertained about twenty five guests at Miss Cora DeWeese's home Tuesday evening in honor of Mrs. Fred Little of Greenwood Mississippi. Guests included Mrs. H B Hickman of Greendale Kentucky. Games contests and refreshments of ice cream and angel food were provided by Misses Eatherine Foliott Gladys Roach and Frances Garriott.

Trustees Hold Caucus For County Superintendent Race

At a Danville caucus the trustees discussed candidates for county superintendent of schools. Three backed Johnson, three backed Reitzel, and one backed Cushing before he withdrew, giving Reitzel the majority to run in the election.

Death of Mr. Jordan at Methodist hospital

Mr. JORDAN died Wednesday morning after a three week illness of appendicitis at the Methodist hospital. He lived northwest of town and came from Illinois three years ago. Survived by widow, two daughters and two sons. Funeral services were held at two this afternoon by Rev. A. L. Meridith with burial at Cartersburg.

Pull Back of 1870 and Related Acts at Public Benefit

An entertainment by the Ladies Aid of Friends M E Church at the Junior High School Assembly Room features a multipart program including The Pull Back of 1870 with a cast listing several named characters, a separate Lawsuit sketch, a Dr Roughneck episode with patient roles, and a Minstrel segment with Bert and Charley Robinson. Music by Mooresville String Band, Director Prof Lyons. Valley Millis May 13 admission 25 cents.

Methodist Penny Social Draws Crowd Despite Weather

About sixty attended a penny social at the Methodist church Monday evening. Admission was a penny per name letter, and proceeds totaled around $12. A bountiful cafeteria-style supper followed as groups based on birth months performed stunts, sang, spoke, or crawled under tables for laughs. Meredith and R. H. Black starred.

Nysewander Post 3829 American Legion observed an open house for all ex service men at their quarters last Thursday night. The event followed by a regular business meeting and social time with big eats. About twenty guests attended.

Amo Graduate Dies In Mastoid Complication

Ms and Mrs Charles Masten attended the funeral of their niece Miss Annette Rogers at Amo last Wednesday. Rogers daughter of Mr and Mrs Clay Rogers was Amo High School 7A graduate but illness kept her from the senior class play. She died about ten days before commencement after a record of perfect Sunday School attendance for over two years.

Twenty-First P. H. S. Alumni Banquet At Masonic Temple

The twenty first annual P H S Alumni Association banquet drew a larger crowd than ever with many distant guests. Frances Jones presided as president and J P Johnson of Danville served as toastmaster. A three course dinner was served by the Christian Church Ladies Aid and after dinner speeches featured flowers and daisies poppies and tulips as subjects.

Dr. Walter D. Hoskins Dies in Indianapolis

Dr. Walter D. Hoskins of Indianapolis formerly near West Newton died at Methodist Hospital. Funeral services were held at First Friends church in Indianapolis. A prominent physician and children's specialist, he was also a Quaker. Survived by widow, daughter Ruth a Westown student, and four sons.
