Contest Winners Lead School to County Oratorical Meet
The Wings in the local senior high school oratorical contest were selected to represent the school at the county contest in Danville on April 1. Katherine Hiatt won voice with An Open Secret, Clarice Barker took reading with A Soul That Passed In The Night, and Julia Kreider claimed discussion on housing problems. Serious Accident on Main Street Injures Six Year Old Girl
Ellen May White, six, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Neil White, was hit by a car driven by Robert Bly on Main Street near Spot Cash store. She suffered a broken collar bone and skull base fracture and was taken to an Indianapolis hospital. About seventy five guests attended the Hoover dinner at the Friends church Saturday evening. Receipts totaled 257.65 for the European Relief Council to aid central and eastern Europe. Ten young girls gave the Lord's Prayer invocation before the meal. Alan B. Maxwell, who spent months with Herbert Hoover in Europe, spoke on European conditions. The menu mirrored rations for 3,500,000 children: brown bread, rice gruel and cocoa. the food was plain but palatable.

Willard Bridges aged 29 died in Denver Colorado last Thursday of tuberculosis. Born in Alaska Indiana he spent most of youth in Plainfield and graduated from the local high school before earning a DePauw degree. At a Plainfield meeting twenty-one applications for membership were accepted. The secretary Dr. LaRue Davis was instructed to order twelve thousand bass and twelve thousand croppies to be deposited in White Lick creek in May or June. New laws include a closed season on bass and blue gills from April 30 to June 16, a ferret permit law, and trot line restrictions in inland waters.
