The Quaker Oil Co completes a land purchase from George Cumberworth for eighteen acres adjacent to the Vandalia railroad right of way to construct a switch near the east end of Main Street. Price was 200 dollars per acre plus 3 cents to Art Kliff who leased the land for the season. Work starts immediately and the deal safeguards local business employments and town trade.
